Tenuta La Gigliola

Tenuta (estate) La Gigliola (pronounced "jeel-YOH-lah") offers a variety of rental options - one villa, two cottages, and five apartments. The estate, which also includes a winery, is located in Chianti wine country in the village of Gigliola, 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) outside the charming hillside town of Montespertoli (pronounced "monteh-SPER-toli"). The magnificent countryside, of which Tuscany is justly famous, surrounds the village providing limitless visual pleasures of valleys, vineyards and olive orchards.

Gigliola is located just thirty minutes southwest of Florence, sixty minutes from Siena to the south and Pisa to the west, and thirty minutes from the famous Chianti Classico region to the east. The four-lane Florence/Pisa/Livorno autostrata passes fifteen minutes to the north and the four-lane Florence/Siena autostrata is twenty minutes to the east. The excellent road connections make for easy and relaxing day trips to other captivating Tuscan villages and towns such as San Gimignano, Lucca, Castellina, Radda, Greve, Volterra and Colle di Val d'Elsa.

In the immediate vicinity of Gigliola and Montespertoli are several other wineries and a wine museum, where you are welcome to taste and purchase the local wines and olive oils. Also, there are numerous restaurants that live up to the well-deserved Tuscan reputation for fine and wholesome food.

Arriving from the north, exit at Ginestra from the Florence/Pisa/Livorno autostrata. Head south and follow the signs to Montespertoli and Gigliola. Arriving from the south, exit at San Casciano from the Florence/Siena autostrata. Proceed west to Certaldo and turn left (south) to Montespertoli and Gigliola.
